How do I make friends? Please help :/?

I definitely understand. People are intimidated by me when I'm just sitting there just because I'm quiet but I'm actually really nice. This sounds kinda cliche but I just introduce myself to random ppl lol especially if him w/ two ppl one knowing the other and they don't introduce me I introduce myself. I also make random comments to ppl I don't know :)
