If I try and upgrade my video card will I fry my computer?

Is there any software that will approximate the amount of power the computer is currently using. I have 330 watt power supply and want to upgrade the video card, but I know 330 watts isn't much. The current video card is on the motherboard. If I install the video card, and there isn't enough power will it just not work, or is it bye bye computer.
